Busy Day!

Yesterday was an extremely busy day beginning with a Harbor Hills Homeowners' Association Board meeting at which it was announced that the assessment amount for 2007 would remain the same as in 2006. Next came men's golf day which was hampered by rainy weather. We served 186 people (a record!) for Member Dinner, after which we were entertained by the Harbor Hills Chorus performing selections for both Thanksgiving and the upcoming holidays. Thanks to Nikki Hoffman for the great photos of the chorus concert!

Add to Your Family This Holiday Season!

Do you have room in your heart to adopt this homeless little fellow? This loving male kitty is approximately 8 - 10 months old. He is very friendly both with humans and small dogs. He is currently living outdoors at Harbor Hills and would appreciate a nice warm home. He acts as if he has been an inside kitty at one time. For more information, please contact Lennart Eliasson at 751-6633. Posted by Picasa

The Decorations are Gorgeous!

The pointsettias have arrived and the elves have been busy decorating the club! I look forward to enjoying the decorations for the holiday season. A reminder to our club members - the deadline for reservations for the member holiday party is November 30.

Our Employees Have the Holiday Spirit!

Our employees are busy decorating the club for the holiday season. You may not know that they also act as Santa's elves for families in need. For the last three holiday seasons, our employees have chosen not to exchange holiday gifts amongst themselves. Instead, they contribute to the Operation Santa Fund. Harbor Hills employees adopt a family in need. After getting a list from the family, they provide for a holiday dinner for the family and shop, wrap and deliver clothing and toys for the children. If the budget permits, they also provide a gift for the adult members of the family. The employees of Harbor Hills strive to give our members and residents excellent service every day and find time on their off hours to give back to the community.

New Faces Everywhere!

Do you believe all the new faces? Since the last time I posted about new residents, we have had 13 families close on their new Harbor Hills built homes! Welcome to the Betts, Christiansen, Page, Witkop, Smith/Levine, Zassenbraker, Spargur, Bradley, Griffith, Reed, Phillips, Olson and Seidenari families. (Actually, the Bradleys were already residents of Harbor Hills but deserve best wishes on their new home!)

Another Harbor Hills Resident

Posted by Picasa Look closely and you will see a screech owl found in a tree at the hardscape at the corner of Harbor Hills Boulevard and Saddleback Court. Tree trimming stopped temporarily so as not to disturb our small friend. I understand that their eyesight is limited in the daylight hours and that all their flying is done in the dark. Thanks to Paul Anderzunas for sharing the photo.

Red and Purple are the Colors of the Day!

The Harbor Hills chapter of the Red Hat Society brought bright red and purple tones to the building as the ladies participated in games in the Lounge and ate a delicious lunch in the Harbor Terrace Dining Room. Posted by Picasa

Have you replaced your sod?

We are starting work on the renewal of our consumptive use permit with St. Johns River Water Management District. We have explained that a number of our residents have had to replace a portion of their lawn due to cinch bug infestation. If we are able to document the number of residents who have had to replace sod, they will consider including the water necessary to water in that new sod when calculating the total number of gallons our community is permitted to use. There will be a sign up sheet at the Neighborhood Meetings (which start this evening). If you are unable to attend you neighborhood meeting and have had to replace sod, please call me at 352-753-7000 or email me at mhuey@harborhills.com. If you have a neighbor who is out of town and has replaced sod, it would be helpful if you could also give me their name. Thank you in advance for your help!

A Mystery!

Is there anyone who can help solve a mystery? There is a boat trailer parked at the marina. It does not have a tag but does have a Minnesota registration for 2006. We would like to contact the owner. The Sheriff's Department is not allowed to tell me the name. Do any of you faithful blog readers have an idea who might own the trailer? If you do, please email me at mhuey@harborhills.com or reach me by telephone at 352-753-7000.
Thank you!

Baskets of Joy!

Last year residents and members donated items to fill gift baskets that were raffled at the Christmas Charity dinner. 23 baskets were raffled for a total of $1,600 all of which was donated to benefit others less fortunate. Your help is needed this year to donate items to fill the baskets to be raffled . Some suggested items would be gift certificates, wine, champagne, beauty products, golf and tennis items, food and cooking items, candles, and household decorations. You could even donate the empty baskets! The beautiful finished baskets will be raffled off at this year's charity dinner on December 7. You may donate items by dropping them in the collection boxes located at the tennis and golf pro shops. Or you may call Lita Edwards at 420-1477. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Anyone for a Bridge Marathon?

The Marathon Bridge Group will be made up of six to ten Harbor Hills couples who enjoy bridge. Each couple will play each other couple in the group one time over a 3 1/2 month period. The games can easily be scheduled to fit into your schedule no matter how busy you might be. Since you play with only one couple at a time, conversation comes easy and you will get to know each couple better. The end of a great winter will be celebrated at a party for all of the couples. If you would like to participate, please call or email Pete or Sandy McDonald at 352-753-7539 or sandy@emstech2.com or pete@usa2net.net before December 15.
