St. Augustine Suggestion

One of our residents suggested that I pass on a tip for maintaining your St. Augustine lawn. He suggested that, at this time of year, you may want to try mowing your lawn at a height of up to 4 inches rather than cutting it closer to the ground. I did my homework and found that the University of Florida Cooperative Extension Service suggests that cutting lower than 3 inches will encourage shallow rooting, which will cause your lawn to be less tolerant of drought. It is raining today (thank goodness), but this has been a very dry season. You may want to give this suggestion a try.
