Lakeview's First Baby!

Meet beautiful Sophia Lillian Page, our newest resident and Lakeview's first baby. Sophia was born on January 11, 2007 weighing 8 pounds 7 ounces. She is shown here being held by grandfather Jim Longsdorf. Parents John and J'aime Page and grandparents Jim and Debe Longsdorf are all residents of Lakeview. Congratulations to both the parents and grandparents on a healthy addition to the family and welcome to baby Sophia! 

And the Winner Is . . .

Did you vote in the photo club's Holiday Photo Contest? It was a close vote but the winner was Nikki Hoffman's photo of The Party Hat. Second place was a tie between Lew Jones (Dog with Toys) and Bob Brownfeld (Holiday Forest). Third place went to Linda Trahan for her photo of Holiday Dog at the Gate. 

Tiit Gentalen has a Little (?) Brother!?!

Tiit Gentalen and his little (?) brother Tom had a great day on the Orange Canal, catching three fish for a total of 14 pounds! I guess the great fisherman gene runs in the Gentalen family! 

Harbor Hills Traveling Display!

This past weekend a team from Harbor Hills traveled to Melville, New York to show the folks from Long Island a slice of life at Harbor Hills. This coming weekend Sean Rich and Joni Krebs will travel to Illinois to show the people in the cold weather of Chicago what life could be like in our "warm" community!

Rally for the Cure Golf Tournament

There are only a few days left to sign up for the Rally for the Cure Golf Tournament. Sign up in the golf shop by January 17 to play in the tournament on Sunday, January 28. The day starts off with a putting contest at 11:30 am followed by a 1:00 pm shotgun. There will be a cash bar, dinner and awards following the tournament. Don't forget to buy your Mulligans! 

A Hoe Down in the Hills

Thanks to Jerri Mayer for the great photos taken at last evening's Harbor Hills Hoe Down. We hear that the food, music, dancing and great company made for a wonderful evening! 

An Elegant New Tradition!

All Harbor Hills members and their guests are invited to attend the First Annual Harbor Hills Mariners Ball to be held on Saturday, February 3, 2007. A member bar will open at 6:00 pm in the lounge followed by dinner served at 7:00 pm in the Regency Room. Entertainment, provided by "Central Florida's Most Versatile Entertainer," David Bechnel, begins at 8:00 pm with dancing to follow. The cost is $35 per person inclusive with black tie optional. Space is limited so please make your reservation before the January 17th deadline by calling 753-7000. If you have questions about the ball, please call Len or Jackie Williams at 259-8530.

All interested residents and employees of Harbor Hills are invited to help judge the first Harbor Hills Photography Club Holiday Photo Contest. Go to hhphotoclub.blogspot.com to see the great photos and get directions for casting your vote. The deadline for submitting your vote is noon on Thursday, January 11. The next photo shoot for the Photography Club is scheduled for Friday, January 26. Those going on the shoot will meet at 8:30 am in front of the clubhouse to travel to the Markets of Marion for unique photo taking opportunities.

Start Out the Year with a Life Saving Donation

The Blood Mobile will be at Harbor Hills from 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm on Friday, January 12. That gives you a whole week to eat your spincach and other iron rich foods! All donors should bring a photo ID. For more information, please contact Karen at 753-7000.

Variety!

Mrs. Wood has provided more photos with a variety of Wood and Thomas grandchildren displaying a variety of fish they were able to catch in the Orange Canal over the holidays! If the kids can do it, so can you! Don't forget to sign up for the first annual Marinated Mariners Fishing Tournament!


 

Moving On

We had a festive holiday season here at the club topped off by a sensational New Year's Eve party. Sadly the employees have spent the day packing away the holiday decorations until next year. But now we can move on to a great 2007. Tomorrow morning at 10:30 is the first informal Round Table Discussion Group of the year. If you would like to participate or just listen, please plan to attend. There is no set agenda. Updates are provided and questions from the attendees are addressed. I understand there is a good deal of interest in the recent hearing before Judge Hill. If you would like to hear about that or any other Harbor Hills related topic, plan to join us tomorrow at 10:30. Speaking of Fish . . .

Max Wood just emailed me this photo of her 8 year old grandson. He and their other two grandsons have been fishing from their boat dock all week with Grandpa Dale. They have been catching tons of shiners, crappie and bluegills using pizza crust for bait! Now that you know the secret, you're ready for the upcoming tournamnet! Calling All Fishermen (or Ladies)!

Get out your rods and reels and start practicing! The first annual Harbor Hills Marinated Mariners Fishing Tournament will be held from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, February 12 in the Orange Canal. As you can see by the photos, there are plenty of fish to catch! The tournament is open to all Harbor Hills Residents - guys and gals! You may fish from boats, docks or the marina. The registration fee of $5.00 goes toward prizes for biggest fish, bass, crappie, bluegill and other!?! Separate prizes will be given for boaters and non-boaters. If you have questions, contact residnets Tiit Gentalen, Bill Murn, DaveElle, Ray Johnson or Jim Shadoin.


 

Holiday House Tour

Thank you to Liz Shadoin for sharing her photos of the December Harbor Hills Garden & Women's Club meeting and tour of Harbor Hills homes decked out in holiday finery. After a meeting and delicious lunch, the ladies toured the splendidly decorated homes of several of their neighbors.

Holiday Food Drive

Memorial Service

A memorial service will be held for long time Harbor Hills resident Laddie Maginess at 11:00 am on Friday, December 22 at the Beyers Funeral Home in Lady Lake. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
